The mountains are full of water: springs, melting snow and glaciers, rainfall; but this water tends to run down the slopes and quickly join the rivers flowing through the valleys.
In order to ensure that the inhabitants of the Nyon plateau have a constant supply of water during the summer months, a reservoir has been created to collect water when it is available and distribute it to the plateau’s users: livestock farmers to water their livestock, owners or tenants of chalets and restaurant operators.
This water can be consumed by the animals, but must be treated so that it is safe for human consumption.
