Mountain activities
Mountain regions cover 25% of France, with 5,600 municipalities located in mountain areas. The sector’s tourist economy is very important. It is strongly focused on ecotourism in summer and skiing in winter, which is practised in 350 resorts.
The mountains are an exceptional playground and an area of freedom that must remain so, thanks to everyone’s contribution. Over-visiting and non-compliance with simple rules by mountain users can be detrimental to the environment and local residents, and a balance needs to be struck between farming and tourist activities.
This is what we are proposing here in Nyon. Our aim is to give you the keys to understanding this attractive and fragile environment, so that you can understand it better and preserve it.
